Meet the author
Rob Hinton
After studying at Warsash Maritime Academy, Rob worked for several years as an Deck Officer and Master with several shipping companies. In 2010, he became infected with the tug bug when he joined Serco Maritime Services as a Chief Officer before being promoted to (Senior) Master and Training Master, and in 2021 received a Distinction and Diploma in Ship Superintendency from the Lloyd’s Maritime Academy.
Since 2023 Rob is working as a Regional Operations & Training Superintendent for Svitzer, focusing on the Africa, Middle East and Asia region. He contributed to the fourth edition of ‘Tug Use in Port’, specifically tug assistance for aircraft carriers and submarines.
